A message from Major General Richard Rohmer :

"Our men and women veterans, both past and present, helped and continue to help Canadians build their dreams and freedom. Please help us build ours along with that of our friends at Ontario Special Olympics."

As heard on CFRB “Tech Talk”

“ The Virtual Walk For Life (www.virtualwalkforlife.com) brings charities into the 21st century of fundraising. The great thing is that people can donate from around the world to their favorite charity while keeping fit at the same time. People with disabilities can broaden their participation. It has very low administrative costs. It’s a very reputable website which I strongly urge all charities to look at.”  Listen to the interview! (Windows Media Player or equivalent required.)

As seen in Canadian FundRaiser

"The fundraising world would seem to have covered the waterfront in terms of ’athons – walk, run, jog, skip, lead your dog – is there anything new under the sun? Yes, as it happens. Now there is a virtual walk, one for which participants don’t have to leave their computer screens."   Read article...

What is Virtual Walk for Life?

Virtual Walk for Life is a new approach to fundraising. It takes the concept of a traditional walk or run one step further. And in doing so, it enables more.

More participation. More funds raised. More awareness.

How does a Virtual Walk work?

Volunteers contact friends, family and associates much as they would when they participate in a traditional walk or run event. But instead of merely asking for a donation, they explain that their contacts can participate too – from wherever they are whenever they have a few minutes. They simply log on to the website and get started right away, answering fun trivia questions to advance through the walk.

What  makes a Virtual Walk different?

By participating in the Virtual Walk, these contacts feel part of the event, and have fun while contributing to something worthwhile – rather than signing a cheque. At the same time, as they progress, they learn more about the organization and the cause it supports.

As well, a Virtual Walk makes canvassing easy – it can be done by phone or email, so the volunteers can get on with their busy schedule.

Special Olympics Ontario endorses the Virtual Walk and will begin their first walk this Winter.

ST. John Ambulance Toronto Branch endorses and is set to launch first Canadian Virtual Walk this fall.
